POETIC DELIGHTS BY SHAH JEHAN BEGUM-INDIA

1-INCOGNITO

Only my woolen garb,
No silk, no velvet anymore.

A banished princess.
No glitz, genuine to the core.

Dazzling diamonds
Forlorn.
Identity card torn.

The abyss of incognito,
A wise dish.
A clumsy descent,
A firm wish.

My bumpy skin,
Coarse as the desert sand.
A bold challenge to the milky trend.

Hardships, Destitution, swirling gloom,
The advent of the persona’s doom.

While the treacherous sun sleeps inclandestinity,
I cross the threshold of eternity.

The towering crowd denies my existence.
Yet, I am dead set
To claim subsistence.

2. The shoes that fit not

We are human, not Divine.
Born to err, on and on.
Bad choices, round and round.

Fallen creatures, banished from
The kingdom of wisdom.
Like foolish birds
We wander in lost lands.

Our broken wings retrace trails to exalted paths,
Imperfection wakens ahead.

But let us embrace our frailties,
We shall not fear
To make mistakes, whirl.

Seeking the Garden of Eden,
We fail to stand up again.
Our feet force themselves
In the shoes that do not fit.

3. Confusion

My identity grows in a tundra,
I see hope in sunsets.
Sleepless nights, swollen eyes
I chase the firefly without
Twinkling the eyes.

With open hands,
I hold the sunshine
As the morning wind freezes
On my dreamy tears.

Stories of hope and hopelessness,
Terrifying fear creates fearlessness.

Dancing with pain
When joy tickles,
I enjoy
The taste of
Confusion.
