POETIC DELIGHTS BY CARMEN SOLIS TORRES-PERU
1-“Lo Que Aprendí de Ti”
“What I Learned from You”
Translated into English
I didn’t know who I was, I got lost in your voice,
Trying to be someone I never was by choice.
I gave you my all, even the pain,
And still, you left without looking back again.
I cried in silence, screamed without sound,
Built castles where no solid ground was found.
I broke a thousand times, but held no hate,
Because even in hurt, you planted something great.
And now I understand—pain can teach,
That loving yourself is within your reach.
I hold no grudge, just my guiding star,
The one I lit when I learned to let go so far.
You weren’t my destiny, just a lesson to see,
A shattered mirror that reflected me.
Thank you for leaving—it set me free,
I’m stronger now, without your need to agree.
And now I understand—pain can teach,
That loving yourself is also love, each to each.
I hold no grudge, just my guiding star,
The one I lit when I learned to fly afar.
“Eternal Spark”
Translated into English
There are loves that neither begin nor end:
they are ancient flames,
both spark and fire,
that awaken in a second
but have burned forever.
It’s the spark that crosses glances
and recognizes something beyond time,
as if two souls
had been searching for each other since before memory.
A subtle vibration
that lights up the certainty:
you are here,
I am in you.
It’s not a fleeting love,
it doesn’t wear out with routine or fade with the years.
It is a thread of light
woven between hearts
that keeps shining even in distance,
even in silence,
even when life changes its shape.
Because there are sparks that never burn out,
that become deep roots
and high stars,
that pass through nights and storms,
and keep burning gently
in the invisible.
That love—eternal spark—
doesn’t ask, doesn’t demand,
it simply exists:
like the breeze,
like the tide,
like the secret pulse of the universe
that never stops beating.
“She, Root of Time”
Translated into English
She was not born: she bloomed.
She did not arrive: she was planted,
like a secret among the constellations,
like the first whisper the wind ever spoke.
She carried suns in her veins,
oceans sleeping in her eyes,
and every word she spoke
was a full season on its own.
You cannot see her,
but without her, the universe
would forget how to spin.
When the world was falling, she held it—
not with strength,
but with that tenderness
that transforms everything without violence.
She was a cradle without bars,
an echo without end,
time that does not age
because it knows how to live on in others.
She was not a flower: she was a forest.
Not a flame: but a home.
Not a tear: but rain that gives life.
She is a mother.
And to be a mother is to open a new universe
every time someone arrives
not knowing who they are
or how much they’re worth—
until her hands show them.
