POETIC DELIGHT BY AIMA RAMZAN-PAKISTAN
I was ignorant
I was ignorant; I was unaware.
So naive and stripped bare
Of this world, a human I was.
Yet oblivious to its cause
I lived in my own little space.
Lost in a different place
He used to say, "I’m yours alone."
And in that thought, my faith had grown
When he entered my life’s domain,
I think I was distraught, in pain
He said, "You’re my everything."
Hearing that, my heart took wing
When he would praise my every part,
In his words, I lost my heart
When he vanished from my sight,
I think I drowned in anxious nights.
His talks, his memories so deep,
Left me wondering, lost in sleep
He seemed a jewel beyond compare.
While I was common, plain, and bare
When he kept my hands away
I thought I’d lost where I would stand
When he walked out of my life,
I thought I’d failed, consumed by strife.
He was a liar, full of deceit.
This truth I learned at the end, complete
