POETIC DELIGHT BY AIMA RAMZAN-PAKISTAN

I was ignorant

I was ignorant; I was unaware.

So naive and stripped bare

Of this world, a human I was.

Yet oblivious to its cause

I lived in my own little space.

Lost in a different place

He used to say, "I’m yours alone."

And in that thought, my faith had grown

When he entered my life’s domain,

I think I was distraught, in pain

He said, "You’re my everything."

Hearing that, my heart took wing

When he would praise my every part,

In his words, I lost my heart

When he vanished from my sight,

I think I drowned in anxious nights.

His talks, his memories so deep,

Left me wondering, lost in sleep

He seemed a jewel beyond compare.

While I was common, plain, and bare

When he kept my hands away

I thought I’d lost where I would stand

When he walked out of my life,

I thought I’d failed, consumed by strife.

He was a liar, full of deceit.

This truth I learned at the end, complete
