FLASH FICTION NAYAB ABID-PAKISTAN
THE DAY SHE LOST HER LIGHT
She was sitting on her couch with a notebook where she was writing her future goals and what she still has to achieve in her life. She had one shining, luminous figurine; she saw her own reflection in that. Hurria is fully confident; her dreams are bright enough to spark her life. Hurria's parents always support her. Her parents brought her up very well. In her family, everyone praised her for how manageable she was. She always knew what she wanted in her life. Her life was going on track until she met Hamid. His promises were snug, and his dreams also intertwined with hers. After marriage, everything was blooming in her favor. When days turned into months and months into years, one day she realized what she had dreamed she had been once and wanted to build with Hamid. That was disappearing like sand slipping through fingers, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop it from fading out of her sight. And she feels like she is now stuck in a dark room. And no matter how hard she tries, she can’t see the single ray of light. One day, she sees her old, shining, luminous figurine, who has lost his shine, and it has a crack in it. And when she tried to fix it, she broke it with her own hands. That day, she realized the venom had already spread over her body. Now there is no turning back. That day, she realized she had already lost everything years ago.
