POETIC DELIGHTS BY AUADUMA A ADOOKORN-NIGERIA

1.    Mistaken kindness

homosapien crafted in the ideate
of God displays ardour like

the maker our God, in acts
of goodness,  to support the weak
- our fellow man longing for help

at times carnivorous, chartless to us,
masked in sheep fur of fellow man

herbivorous round-eyed sheep,
naive and credulous
we pain to rescue their cub

our act fumble on alley of well-meaning
but misguided favour,
caught in web of blur assay

when our acts of kindness
drizzle on demise lawn -
shower on sear-hearted decoy

not deserving
reciprocate foul play for good,
concern for phlegm

our kindness, a silhouetee
of ember on iceberg, sink
us in cauterise mire of Illusion

ardour of the greater number
of people cool off, sunder at the
carrefour of withdrawal

- the hallmark of the last days

when poise for deeds of favour
prop your goodness on presage,
weigh your goodwill on temperance

and survive the snare of wrong kindness!

2.          Prejudice

you bully him by his colour, label
him with #hashtag of contempt
for a colour he did not make -

something you can not change

you despise him by his colour, pass judgement before he could say a word
for a colour he did not bargain -

something he can not classicise

you scold him by his colour, cage
him in entangled web of cold feet
for a  colour he did not conjure -

something you can not abjure

yet;  you dote the sky dressed in motley, birds arrayed in etch smorgasbord plumage and floral groomed in variety of colours

to appeal and satisfy our senses

how much will you have adore birds
of the same colour of black or white soar
in a sky of same hue of black or white

if not for their varieties of colour display

you abhor him, scorn variety; please,
swerve underneath his skin and uncover
his psyche lay silent in fabrics of gold

it is not black or white as well

cocooned in grey-dark embroidery
of guess work open to interpretation;
it's the person and not the colour

that the narrow-minded predicates!
