POETIC DELIGHTS BY SHAKIL KALAM-BANGLADESH
1. The Visible and the Invisible
When the wind flows, the tree leaves sway;
The wind is invisible, but plants are visible;
The result is seen as leaves' are moving.
Trees take in Carbon-di-oxide from the air — and discharge Oxygen; and animal world, accept it,
Truly, wind and megafauna are complementary.
State, people, government, sovereignty — responsibility, accountability and transparency are interdependent
Their bond is like that of earth, waterbody, and cosmos:
These are exist tethered in an invisible thread.
Yet there exists an even more unseen being;
All of us search for Him, wandering.
Billions of years have passed us by —
Still, none has found Him.
Even so, we must be believed,
As we trust the bond between country and sovereignty.
2. Whip
You don't wake up like "Kumbhakarna," the harsh ringtone of the phone;
With the echo of the call to prayer or the sound of the drums on "Vijayadashami."
From the other end of the phone, the restless mind screams,
Still, your profit and loss account doesn't agree up.
Was what you got, what you wanted too?
No, I don't think, how a person can be so thoughtless !
It was inevitable that you would get many things in the future!
Why did you do such a foolish thing even though you knew for sure!
You killed a simple-minded person with a sharp whip!
His soul, like a golden piece of iron, burning in the blacksmith's fire,
As if it is being burned in the fire pit of pyre.
3. Poetry of the First Moon
She told me that she loved me very much!
But love made at the North and South Poles?
When you send "MOG" on Facebook, does it become love?
Is saying "I love you" truly making love?
If you don't say the words, is love not there?
Love speaks clearest when two pairs of eyes meet.
A woman deaf to the language of the gaze
Will never understand love with her heart –
Oh, the immense, unfathomable power!
Beneath the full moon's glow, stars pierce the sky.
Fireflies burn and fade across the earth,
Like embers of a dream from yesternight.
Full moonlight can't be caught or touched,
Only felt deep within the silent heart.
Love is volatile, hard as camphor;
It mingles with the air, will not return.
Yet with a cool, soft touch, it may revive.
Hold love gently, with a caressing hand.
Oh woman! Know that my love is for you.
A world of poems waits for the First Moon's light.
